Stem Cell Procedure to Help Dogs

Two dogs will undergo stem cell treatments for arthritis. Packerland Veterinary Center in Green Bay will be the first to perform the procedure in Wisconsin.

Stem cells taken from fatty tissue is injected into arthritic areas of the animals. The treatment has already been performed across the country and doctors say it can be very successful according to Doctor Allen Dunbar. “1 out of 100 patients don’t show any benefit so if that means 99 out of 100 do, you know, I mean, it’s very very promising as far as the potential here.”

Veterinarians expect the dogs to continue improving over the next two months until they are able to move normally without pain.
